Raquel Branquinho is a Science Manager at REMA – Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Porto (FLUP).

She obtained a BsC degree in Microbiology in 2004 – Faculty of Biotechnology, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and in 2007, an MSc in Quality Control – Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. In 2014, completed a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in the same institution. In addition, for more than a decade, in the BacT Drugs (Molecular Microbiology & Genomics) team of Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto, she developed R&D activities, predominantly in microbiology and biotechnology areas.

Curiosity and interest for science management and science communication areas, led her to accept the challenge of joining REMA team, in 2019, and before that, the Ciência Viva – Bragança. She coordinated and participated in several national and international science outreach programs, such as “INTEGRA: Scientific Routes for Intercultural Integration”, “Meeting the scientist”, among others. Moreover, she was involved in the development of exhibitions, such as “BI: Integrated Biosphere” and “Why we are like are? Evolving for 4570 million years”. Noteworthy, her participation in the pedagogical project of education in Microbiology – MicroMundo@UPorto, training students and researchers in the process of communication, dissemination and development of ideas and of knowledge.

Her scientific production has dozens of publications in peer-reviewed journals, oral communications and in national and international conference proceedings.
